During the meeting the problems that transgender people face in Armenia were presented and discussed – health, education, employment, etc., which are conditioned by stigma, discrimination, violence and hatred.
They also talked about the achievements, particularly in connection with the official estimated number of trans* people in Armenia, which was only 150 in 2018, and in 2021, the official estimated number of only trans* women is already 1015.
This progress at the state level is the main achievement of NTC, because the research and the negotiations were carried out thanks to the employees of the organization.
Camelia Kandiliani thanked for the reception, expressed hope for mutual cooperation for the sake of building a dignified and safe living conditions for transgender people in Armenia.
